چکیده

Poster background Oxcarbazepine (OXC) is a structural analog of carbamazepine (CBZ). OXC is considered a promising alternative medication for patients who cannot tolerate CBZ because of its equivalent clinical effiecacy and fewer cutaneous adverse drug reactions (cADRs) compared to CBZ. HLAB*15:02 allele was shown to strongly associate with carbamazepine (CBZ)-induced Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS)/toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) in Chinese and Southeast Asian populations. However, the epidemiological data about OXC-induced cADRs in recent years is limited. This study aims to investigate the clinical characteristics of OXC-induced cADRs and their genetic associations with HLA-B*15:02.

Desensitization to Oxcarbazepine: Long-Term Efficacy and Tolerability

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Antiepileptic drug (AED)-associated cutaneous adverse drug reactions can lead to the discontinuation of medications. The aim of this study was to determine the long-term efficacy and safety of performing desensitization to oxcarbazepine. METHODS This study involved 20 patients who exhibited cutaneous adverse drug reactions associated with oxcarbazepine use between July ...

Cutaneous adverse drug reactions: A one year prospective study

Background: Adverse cutaneous drug reactions are unwarranted effects of modern medicine. These unfortunate events can assume any morphology from simple exanthem to full blown toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN), and can simulate and mimic many diseases. Sometimes it is difficult to recognize the cause, but they may be due to polypharmacy or self-administration of medications. The analytical data f...

Single centre 20 year survey of antiepileptic drug-induced hypersensitivity reactions.

BACKGROUND Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disease which affects about 1% of the human population. There are 50 million patients in the world suffering from this disease and 2 million new cases per year are observed. The necessary treatment with antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) increases the risk of adverse reactions. In case of 15% of people receiving AEDs, cutaneous reactions, like maculopapular...
